Photography is a beautiful art. Through it you can keep the beautiful scenes of your life evermore. You can treasure them; enjoy them and make them memorable with the assistance of this art. Furthermore, you will be able to capture the gorgeous scenes of nature which are sources of freshness and beauty.

Having said that, have you ever considered how photography came to be? In fact, photography has been around for many centuries - as early as the 19th century. Individuals have always been ardent admirers of beauty and they have invariably desired to capture beauty of any sort. However, the technology available a few centuries ago was not as developed as it is nowadays, in the modern age.

This article will take a look to the past, to when photography came about, and how its popularity has grown since then.

"Photography" as a phrase and concept was presented by Sir Jon Herscel around the early 1830s, which is when the world started to learn about this brilliant thought. Photography is in reality derived from two words: 'photo' and 'graphein' which means recording pictures with the help of radiation or light.

So whilst "photography" does mean recording images via radiation or light, nowadays photography only uses light. The first photograph was developed by a scientist called Daguerre who was a French painter and chemist. Traces of photographs have been found as early as 1827, which would suggest that such a technology did exist in some form before 1839 (i.e. which is when Daguerre produced the first recorded photograph).

During the Mexican-American war of 1847, photography was used to show rough pictures of the war to ordinary Americans - thus making photography much more popular than it was beforehand. Hence people then began to see the potential of this technology, and from there they learnt that this breakthrough technology would soon revolutionize their lives.

The first colored photographs - which were very basic - were published in 1861. These photos really created a buzz all over the world because it was a brand-new and unusual idea for people. However it is important to note that this method involved merely tinting photographs, which evidently didn't result in the same high quality colored photos that we have nowadays.

Photography equipment kept on improving - and the photographs created also kept on becoming more impressive and remarkable (for the time) - until 1991 when the first digital camera appeared on the worldwide scene.

This camera produced a pulse between people and they went mad for producing colorful and memorable images of their friends, family and relatives. Many more companies then started to produce a wider variety of cameras - ever increasing their quality - which naturally resulted in the wonderfully high quality photographs that we have today.

In the modern world, fashion and electronic media rotate around photography. Photographs today, and their usage in advertising, have really made our lives beautiful and colorful!
