The fact that most beauty companies have an anti-aging product line—even sunless tanning lotions and creams—show how popular they have become. Big names in Hollywood like Ellen Degeneres, Andie MacDowell, Courtney Cox, and Sarah Jessica Parker, with Cynthia Crawford even endorsing her own formula and product line, all endorse anti-aging products that show how even though they are in their forties (and some in their fifties), they can still look young and beautiful. The preoccupation in finding the fountain of youth and looking ageless has plagued innumerable men and women. In truth, who would want to always look young and beautiful, with a glowing and firm baby soft skin?

And so, spurred by an industry that caters specifically to consumers, who demand to look younger and feel more attractive, beauty companies have equipped regular beauty products like body lotions, creams, soaps, body wash, facial wash and sunless tanning lotions with an anti-aging component. So, how do they work? Essentially, these beauty products already serve to moisturize skin that, when done regularly, helps prevent the appearance of wrinkles. With the stress brought about by work and personal challenges, the skin tends to suffer. Dryness is one negative effect of stress, which is worsened by weather changes that can bring about premature skin aging.

Anti-aging lotions, creams and other products not only contain moisturizers, but they also use L-histidine and beta-alanine as active ingredients. These are types of amino acids that refresh and revitalize the skin. Pentapeptides are the most popular ingredient of anti-aging lotions. A pentapeptide is a chain of five amino acids that serve to stimulate the skin's production of elastin and collagen. While the former is responsible for the skin's elasticity and suppleness, the latter is the main component that holds the skin's structure, resulting in the skin's firmness. With optimal levels of elastin and collagen, the skin then looks younger as it becomes more firm and supple—allowing for the "filling" of wrinkles and preventing the appearance of age spots and other blemishes.

The ability of the age-defying technology to make people look and feel younger and more beautiful is actually the goal of almost all beauty products. And so, the fusion of these technologies makes sense as both have the same objective. Now, let's take for example, anti-aging sunless tanning products. With the nature of having a tanned complexion already an indication of youth and beauty—tanning connotes a person is active, healthy and it also hides blemishes that make people look old—combining it with the ingredient that is supposed to defy the aging process makes perfect sense. In this way, the application of various beauty products, since it is already a part of people's beauty regimens, is maximized. And so, what's the reason why these combination of anti-aging and beauty products sell like hotcakes? Well, it just makes sense.
