Certain rules when it comes to hanging pictures can be learned after years of experience. If a wall appears empty without a picture then this is when you should hang one up and never should you hang pictures on every wall you see unless you've always yearned to live in an art gallery. For pictures, you can hang them over a sofa, in groups, over a server, a small pier table, or a console. For more information on paintings check out charcoal portrait from photo.

Another rule follows this. When there is furniture underneath do not make the groupings wider than this. Hanging pictures closer to one another gives them this unified look even if they are of varying sizes. When it comes to type and size you may have a prized collection of bird prints with different frames. Instead of hanging them frame by frame consider pleasing geometrics.

Yet another rule. May pictures be hung in close proximity the wall is a frame in itself which serves to set off a group of pictures on all four sides. The arrangement of pictures in pleasing geometry is that of a square or a rectangular shape. If you have four pictures all framed alike and of the same size, my personal choice would be to hang them geometrically in a square over the sofa, or in a straight line over a long table, or vertically above a small step table. For staircases pictures should be hung using the step pattern. As much as possible stick to straight lines meeting at right angles. Sometimes you need a little regimentation in life.

Maybe you have been able to accumulate a collection of pictures over time including old family portraits, originals, prints, and reproductions. A good option to take would be to unify these when hung together by framing and matting everything alike. Matting them in forest green, one friend used simple gold frames for 16 prints. Set against a red wall, the look was sensational. There was a friend who added color by matting the pictures over her sofa in varying shades. Other than being of the same size the pictures were of one subject too. Obtain further advice on baby portraits on canvas and the subject of paintings.

Is it something you encountered when you looked at a department store model room and found it bare? What was missing was a sign that someone lived, ate, slept and took telephone calls in that picture perfect room. There is no individuality. Don't be afraid to display yours in your home.

When it comes to a department store model the purpose is to sell furniture but the purpose of a home is to satisfy your comfort and pleasure. In this case your favorite color becomes the best choice. Able to affect the mood of a room is a particular color you select. Colors can easily depict varying emotions. You should probably go and take a look at some color charts until you find colors that you are drawn to for your space. You will never go wrong if you consider you individual choice.
