Leather Stamping Tools are intricately designed metal tools made to speed up your leatherwork and gives it a high-quality professional appearance. You will be impressed by the fine detail that you can create in your leather designs by using these kinds of stamps. These stamps are ideal for providing inexperienced leathercrafters of any age with an opportunity to create far more intricate and beautiful designs.

Leather stamping tools are used to produce artistic impressions in to your leather designs. Generally the raised appearance that you see is done by pressing down on the spots we don't wish to be raised. To make certain that the effect stays in place, proper moisture content is essential when you are striking the leather. Leather that is too damp or too dry may cause the impression to rise back up eventually.

These tools function by either a single downward action or a double (down-up) action with each strike from the mallet. Single action tools are held firmly down so they are unable to bounce back. They can be leaned left or right, front (towards the toe) or back (towards the heel) which will give only a partial impression.

Double action tools are also known as walking tools. You should hold the tool tightly in your hands but exerting no downwards pressure. This will allow the tool to bounce back up from the leather immediately after striking and making your impression. You will use the recoil to move the tool down a line unhindered, making a steady continuous impression in the leather. These Leathercraft tools will make anyone's work far more impressive. The following are a list of the more common types of stamps.

• The Camouflage stamp - The camouflage stamp is a single action tool that is normally employed to depict various textures to stems, leaves and flowers.

• The Pear Shader stamp - The pear shader stamp is a double action tool that is used to depress the leather to create concave parts.

• The Beveler stamp - The beveler is also a double action tool. It's used to give relief to the various objects that are within the design.

• The Veiner stamp - The veiner is a single action tool and it is used to provide the effect of veins in leaves.

• The Seeder stamp - The seeder is used for creating the seed pods of flowers and it's another single action
tool.

• The Backgrounder stamp - The backgrounder can be used as either a single action or as a double action tool on much larger areas. It is used to mat down the background section of the pattern.

• Geometric stamps - Geometric stamps are used for many decorative and also special effect purposes. By using only one geometric tool, you can cover a considerable region with a nice design in no time.

• Border Stamps - Border stamps can be used by themselves to produce an attractive frame around leatherwork. They are also used around basketweave or other geometric patterns to fill in any unevenness around your leather project's border regions.

• Figure carving stamps - Leather figure carving stamps were fashioned to help you create leather carvings that depict wildlife, foliage as well as landscapes. Additionally, a number of these stamps can also be used for border designs, too.

• Stop stamps - Stops are mostly used right at the end of swivel knife cuts, with a floral pattern, to enhance its appearance. You can use them at the base of flower petals, leaves and lots of other parts to show more definition to the pattern and also to produce special effects.

• Flower center stamps - You can Make beautiful arrangements using the flower and leaf stamps together or use them individually to create a decorative floral border.

• Leaf Stamps - Use these leaf stamps in conjunction with the flower center and veiner stamps to create bouquet patterns or you may use them alone to make a decorative leaf border design.
