The owner of Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, American giant Warner Brothers, has signed up to the Hertfordshire Ready for Winners Partnership (HRFWP).
The partnership, organised by Hertfordshire County Council, aims to help local businesses take advantage of the influx of investment and visitors that nearby London will experience during the 2012 Olympic games.
The county, just north of London, is already involved with the Olympics as the Broxbourne Lee Valley White Water Centre will host the London 2012 canoe slalom and kayaking events across a course of rapids, drops, holes, eddies and boils.
The media conglomerate plans to improve the major film studio and open up some of the large converted hangers as a visitor attraction at the site where all eight Harry Potter movies, together with a collection of other movies including Star Wars Episode I were filmed.
With Easter 2012 given as a tentative opening date for the Leavesden Studios attraction sports fans may be able to combine a trip to the capital for the game and a look around the famous Harry Potter location.
Managing Director of Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, which recently appointed designers for the development 170 acre site said that his team were “delighted to have been given the opportunity” to join the Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners Partnership at part of their commitment to supporting local communities.
Chairman of the HRFWP Derrick Ashley welcomed Warner Brothers’ membership saying "It is a great achievement for Hertfordshire is Ready For Winners to have attracted a global brand of the stature of Warner Bros Studios Leavesden to the partnership and, with the support of all of our partners, we look forward to increasing our momentum and taking advantage of the many opportunities for Hertfordshire that the Olympics and Paralympics offer."
A number of national teams are expected to train for the London 2012 games during the county of Hertfordshire.
