It seems like a long winded and tiresome process especially if you only stand to make a small saving, due to this many people choose to stay with the same telephone provider the many years. One of the problems in doing this is that not only will you end up paying a lot more of your telephone services, you might also be overlooking some features of new communications services which you could stand to benefit greatly from. Voice over Internet protocol or Voip is a relatively new and revolutionary way of using the Internet to make and take telephone calls. So if you are looking to choose a Voip provider and are unsure of what equipment you need here are some hints and tips would you may find useful:

• A PC - this is one of the first things you need before you can start to use your new service from your new Voip provider

• An Internet connection, which is preferably high speed. Ideally you should have a connection which is a multiple channel which has a bandwidth of more than 2 Mbps. Obviously for some people the type of Internet connection they have will depend on a number of factors such as the availability of broadband in the area that you are in, your budget, the service you are looking for and the amount of telephone traffic that you are expecting to receive.
• A Voip adapter so that you can use regular telephones using the service from your Voip provider. There are also telephones and you can buy to hook up directly to your PC which do away with the need to use an adapter. However the choice is yours, but if you need further assistance in making a choice between telephones your Voip provider will he only too happy to help.
• Open an account/signup with a Voip provider. As there are so many on the market right now you might like to do a little research before making a final decision, so go online and take a look at the rates and payment plans for the different providers that you might be interested in. This will help you to make a decision on which Voip provider is right you.

• If you are looking to set up a call centre or a similar type of this setup you might also want to decide how many users are going to be using the new service. When you have this final number speak to your Voip provider and make them aware of how many lines you will need. However if you need to add new lines your Voip provider will only be too happy to help.

So now you know what equipment and you will need the next thing that you need to do is to make contact with a Voip provider and setup your account.
