Since two months ago, Verizon Wireless, the second largest revenue wireless company in the United States, has been reported to open wider options for its 4G network in terms of charging it by data speeds, tiered data pricing or the combo between those two earlier options. Ivan Seidenberg, Verizon CEO, in the interview session with Wall Street Journal mentioned that Verizon’s LTE (Long term Evolution) network will disclose some pricing options within few months. That was the previous “sneak peek” being told by the company. Thereafter, only a few days ago, media are widely reported that Verizon’s LTE network will be launched by the end of this week in 38 major metropolitan areas and 60 airports with with USB sticks from LG Electronics to capture high-speed wireless subscribers with its supers fast webhosting access. At launch, the USB from LG Electronics can be purchased for US$99.99 after rebate with a two-year contract.

Technically, LTE technology is way more economical to serve and provide the data to customers, because the use of radio spectrum is more efficient than 3G network. Debra Lewis, Verizon spokeswoman, told AFP that this next-generation network will provide significantly faster speeds than existing wireless networks. She also mentioned that on a 4G network downloading the video will be 10 times faster. Besides speeds, multiple tasks is declared to be the excellence of this service. Verizon representatives showed that playing videos from YouTube and Netflix along with streaming music from the Pandora are no longer a hindrance for the LTE-based system.

Verizon stated that in the loaded network environments, the customers can expect 5-12Mbps downstream, and 2-5Mbps upstream to to various free hosting services. The pricing will be USD50 per month for 5 gigabytes (GB) of usage or USD80 for 10 GB worth of service, which are USD10 less than the company currently charges for its 3G service. It’s not cheap, but not really that expensive as well. The company’s Chief Executive, Dan Mead promised that Verizon will soon expand the LTE service and by 2013 will reach the existing Verizon Wireless 3G coverage area. LTE coverage will be available with street level maps by this Sunday and the networks service is expected to cover one third of Americans.
