So what should the customer seeking to make International Calls at a reduced cost look for? There are an abundance of Telecom Providers out there making it sound like there is no cost at all associated with making International Calls.

Firstly, look out for hidden charges: minimum call spend, connection fees, set up charges, per second billing, account charges, commission structures, minimum call rates etc etc. The words 'Unlimited' may sound appealing at first, but the customer needs to validate that against the cost of the 'bundle' or 'tariff' they plan to choose. Dependent on how you are paying for an International Calls service, postpay, account, pre-pay, calling cards - may even have a bearing on how quickly you will consume your account 'credit'.

However, there are some incredibly good International Call deals out there, particularly web based Call Providers. Just register for an account, activate by email, choose what call plan you require, make payment and then start making International Calls immediately.

The Cheapest International Calls plans are provided for by Telecoms Providers who run their own IP network infrastructure. Carriers have had to adapt to the explosion in VoIP technology and are able to process large volumes of calls in a more efficient way, thereby passing the savings on to the customer. However, not all carriers are prepared to adapt and pass these savings on, so the customer needs to read the small print before signing or paying for any products.

If you are looking to make International Calls on a regular basis, there are substantial savings to be made by shopping around. There are 'Unlimited International Call' packages available, but the cost of the 'Unlimited' component will be reflected in the initial 'bundle' price. Call costs will continue to decline as the explosion in 'unified' voice and data communications continues to grow.
