The Sonim XP3 Yellow is not the most stylish phone on the market. Its looks are akin to a satellite navigation unit, such as a Magellan or something of its ilk. However there is a reason for this, it's simply a functional phone that is probably the most durable and hard wearing phone available.

The Sonim XP3 Yellow provides the basic necessities of a mobile phone. That's because in the types of environments that this phone has been produced for, it's unlikely that an MP3 player or camera would be of much use or in fact desired. On the top of a mountain or in the middle of nowhere, this phone would be the one phone that would be the best companion.

The screen on the phone is a TFT display screen which measures 1.77 inches. It displays 65,000 colours at a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The phone does provide several optional wallpapers to add a level of individuality. Alerts are offered in vibration or ring formats, with MP3 and WAV available to be used if desired. The phone also provides the always useful speakerphone facility, for hands free talking. Connectivity is provided by GPRS, Blue tooth and miniUSB. This enables file sharing and synchronisation functionality wherever required. An organiser, voice memo and stop watch are included within the features, all of which provide additional useful tools to aid its owner.

The main element of this phone is the fact that even though this phone has a variety of features, its main feature is the casing. The phone is shock, water and dust resistant. In fact it can be dropped onto concrete from a height of 2 metres and still be fully functional. It is water proof up to a depth of 1 metre as well, so should it be dropped into water it will still function.

The Sonim XP3 Enduro is a phone which will appeal to a certain demographic, it's unlikely to be seen on the town or in a nightclub, but that is not its purpose. It's meant for the rough and tumble of outdoor life and living. The whole concept behind this phone is one of durability and on that count it's a winner.
