One of the main reason why tickets for wicked on broadway has been a buyer’s choice because it is a Wizard of Oz prequel story, adapted and reinvented from Gregory Maguire's novel. The novel is all about a green woman coming of age in Oz. Also it is a story of a two witches and the green-themed show.

The story was about two kind of witches namely Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and Galinda, later Glinda, the Good Witch of the North (in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel, Glinda is the Good Witch of the South). They were friends before but then their rivalry started as they discover their differences. Their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard's corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphaba's public fall from grace.

It was released by press it states that: "Winner of 26 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz. It is currently the 25th longest-running show in musical theatre history and the 17th longest-running Broadway show, having played over 2,926 performances to date. Don’t you know that the character of Elphaba was named 79th on Entertainment Weekly's list of The 100 Greatest Characters of the Past 20 Years. It is really a great thing in speaking of achievements.

But who’s behind with these great achievements? Let’s take a little look on the production.

Wayne Cilento (Choreographer) won the 1993 Tony Award for Best Choreography for Tommy as well as the Drama Desk Award and the Fred Astaire Award, and was nominated for the 1997 Laurence Olivier Award for the West End production of Tommy.
Eugene Lee (set designer) has been the Resident Designer at Rhode Island's Trinity Rep for 30 years. He has a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, an MFA from Yale Drama School, and honorary Ph.Ds from both DePaul University and Rhode Island College. Mr. Lee has won two Tony Awards for his work on Broadway, for Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" and for his glorious design at the Gershwin Theatre of Stephen Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd." He is the production designer for Saturday Night Live on NBC. Other New York theater work includes: "Alice in Wonderland," Larry Kramer's "The Normal Heart," "Agnes of God," and "Uncle Vanya." And for the sound :Tony Meola: "Tony Meola is one of New York's most in-demand sound designers, with credits on more than twenty-six Broadway productions including Man of La Mancha, Sweet Smell of Success, Kiss Me Kate, Footloose, The King and I and Smokey Joe's Café.

The original stars were Idina Menzel as Elphaba, Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, and Joel Grey as the Wizard. Although the production received mixed reviews and was panned by The New York Times, it has proved to be a favorite among patrons.
These fact and figures are maybe a little bit fascinating! Yet it proves how good an artist is, to portray his/her character. The way the story was created, the collaboration of the personnel in the production. How their minds meet up!

All in all, it is a show that cannot be described by merely words, spoken by mouth but by all the applauses of the viewers watching.
