The Xperia X10 offers a selection of connectivity options to stay connected on the move. Primarily, class 10 GPRS and EDGE connect the phone to cellular networks. In areas covered by 3G, HSDPA is available at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps along with HSUPA at 2 Mbps. A faster internet is available in areas where a signal is provided by a wireless internet router, thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity. Finally, Bluetooth and micro USB offer both wireless and direct connection to a range of other devices.

Along with the popular photocall feature, the internal phonebook can store a practically unlimited number of entries. For storage of data such as music and video files, 1 GB of internal storage is available along with 384 MB RAM. A micro SD card is also included with a pre-installed 8 GB memory card, and this can be upgraded to 16 GB if more storage is required.

As mentioned, the Xperia X10 is equipped with a digital camera boasting an impressive 8 mega pixels (3264x2448 pixel resolution), allowing images of extremely high quality to be taken. This also includes features such as autofocus and LED flash, making the task of taking quality photos easier. In addition, the camera also has the capability to shoot video in WVGA quality at 30 fps.

The handset itself measures 119x63x13mm. Its slim line profile makes it a pleasure to hold and use on the move. Available in black and white, this is a stylish handset with simplistic, sophisticated styling. The front of the phone is dominated by a large 4 inch TFT capacitive touch screen. This offers great display quality thanks to the ability to display up to 65,000 colours within 480x854 pixels.

The Xperia X10 offers a good level of customisation on the sound front. As well as downloadable polyphonics, MP3 files can be assigned as ringtones, and a composer is included so users can create custom ringtones from scratch. As expected, ringing works alongside vibration to alert users to incoming calls and messages. For handsfree communication, both a speakerphone and a 3.5mm audio jack are included.

A range of additional features add to the versatility of the Xperia X10. This includes a versatile media player, and applications offering direct access to popular websites such as Google and YouTube.

In conclusion, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is an impressive handset. Features such as the large touch screen and 8 megapixel camera are sure to win over tech-savvy users, and the style conscious are sure to appreciate the choice of available colours.
