The knack of finding any winning product, including a mobile phone is to provide what the market is looking for. The emergence of digital camera technology has enabled phone manufacturers to offer increasingly impressive cameras on their phones. The Nokia N86 8MP is a further addition to that market. Its name provides an inkling into its main feature which is the large 8 mega pixel camera.

The impressive 8 mega pixel camera is a well crafted feature of this phone. Its resolution of 3264 x 2448 provides the means to take excellent quality images and to have them printed out if so desired. One of the best features included within the phone is the wide 28 mm Carl Zeiss lens. This element shows the determination Nokia have, to ensure this phone is an effective camera. The phone also provides the alternative means of capturing special moments by offering video recording. This is provided at VGA quality and at 30 frames per second. A secondary phone provides the means to make video calls.

The Nokia N86 8MP comes with the ARM 11 434 MHz processor and uses the Symbian OS v9.3 operating system as it central processing system. Both of these elements are tried and tested and have excellent reliability and processing capabilities. Internal memory is set at 8Gb but can be expanded up to 16 Gb if required by using the microSD slot.

The phones 2.6 AMOLED display screen offers the ability to display 16 million colours at 240 x 320 pixels. The screen is impressive and is required to display images taken by the camera in their true light and colour representation. An accelerometer sensor automatically rotates images to their correct aspect.

HSDPA and Wi-Fi connections provide the useful internet connectivity. With integrated access as well as the ability to utilise nationally available hot spots ensures internet access is widely available. GPRS, EDGE as well as Blue tooth with A2DP and microUSB provide multiple means of connectivity for a variety of tasks. The phone comes with satellite navigation through GPS with A-GPS support feature and includes Ovi maps. An MP3 player and Stereo FM radio with RDS and FM transmitter are also provided.

The N86 8MP is a phone which has been manufactured with photo taking in mind. In fact recent news items have suggested that Nokia now are the largest supplier of digital cameras in the world, due to their inclusion within the mobile phones. The addition of this phone will only add to that fact.
