The HTC Smart was announced by HTC recently, and looks to be an impressive and technologically advanced mobile, utilising an unusual operating system, called Brew mobile. The handset will measure 104 mm x 55 mm wide and be only 12 mm thick, whilst weighing 108 g in weight. Compact and slim line, as well as being lightweight means that the phone will be simple to use as well as comfortable to hold.

The HTC Smart will come with a 2.8 inch TFT touch screen that utilises the Sense user interface. The interface is a responsive and reliable means of navigation around the various functions enclosed therein. The display screen is able to display up to 256,000 colours at a pixel screen size of 240 x 320 pixels and also incorporates an accelerometer sensor, which automates rotation of imagery dependant upon the orientation of the handset.

The unit will incorporate both vibration and ring alert types, with the option of utilising MP3 and WAV ringtones as standard. The built-in speakerphone will provide hands-free communication, whilst the 3.5 mm audio jack will provide the means to utilise headphones. The photo call option, whereby an image can be displayed when a particular number rings, is an option which is also included within this handset. The handset comes with 256 MB of internal memory with the option of increasing this up to 16 GB by making use of the microSD card slot which is integrated into the phone.

Internet access is provided by the HSDPA connection, whilst class 10 versions of GPRS and EDGE are also included. Blue tooth and mini USB are both version 2.0 and offer the means to transfer files and synchronise with a PC.

The unit provides an MP4/MP3 player as well as a 3.15 mega pixel camera for entertainment purposes. The media player will play all major formats of audio and video files, whilst the camera comes with autofocus and an LED flash and also provides the ability to record video as an alternative to photographs. A variety of games are also included within the package

The HTC Smart utilises a 300 MHz processor, with the aforementioned Brew mobile operating system. Its impending releases is due in quarter 1 of 2010, and is widely anticipated. As with most HTC mobile phones, including the HTC HD2 , technology and form are superbly intertwined.
