Art has always been considered a romantic endeavor. Art is a love affair between the artist, the concept and the art materials. There is so much emotion that is transferred from the artist through the medium that a paintbrush can seem to be alive with that energy. There is unlimited inspiration and potential in a box of crayons.

For years the tools of an artist have been used to shape minds, change thought and build culture. The pen has ended wars and started wars. The paintbrush has made people cry and smile. Without the artist controlling them they would be simple inanimate objects. In the hand of the artist they become magic wands capable of levitating people and crushing cities. This is why young children are often taught the basics of art. By stimulating their minds in the arts it will ensure that the arts will continue.

For centuries there have been many different materials used for brushes. An expensive red sable brush uses the hair of a weasel. Different brush materials will cause different effects and patterns. This has been a well liked hair for paint brushes for a number of years.

There is also the kolinsky sable. This brush uses the very expensive Siberian mink hair. It is often used because of its pointed shape. It has a unique ability to always keep this shape. The more expensive brushes often require more care. There is also the less expensive synthetic brushes. These brushes are more common and work very well. They do not require as much care as the real hair brushes.

Many modern artists are moving to the computer to produce art. Many others continue to use mediums like pencil and oil paint. There are also those that use a combination of both. There are artists that will paint an oil painting and then digitally photograph the image. That image is then manipulated with software to create other effects.

The comic book industry has been greatly affected by this shift to modern technology. It is entirely possible to create a comic book from start to finish with only a computer. There are the strict traditionalists that will only use hand drawn and hand inked works. This work will often be digitized by the publisher eventually. Some artists specifically state that they do not use computers for their artwork. This makes a clear distinction between the two types of artwork.

In photography classes in college many instructors are moving to digital only. Currently, several instructors still teach dark room techniques but many are moving away from the hands on instruction. The costs are becoming prohibitive in using the old dark room developing techniques. Camera manufacturers have already begun to discontinue all of the older cameras.

The art that can be created with simple art materials can change perceptions and make a lasting impression on humanity. It is also the artist that controls the brush that lives on in the minds of the people. As technology advances us and the methods of artistic expression; there will always be a need and desire to dab paint on a canvas or sharpen a pencil.

Don't shy away from an enjoyable experience because of the cost of art supplies online. It is true, most art materials can be pretty pricey. Do your own research and follow expert guidance. This is a good idea to do when you are looking for artist easels, canvas, and other items online.
