MBM is an office machine manufacturer that's always putting out fantastic products that can help people improve their productivity. One of their newest machines is the 93M. It's a paper folder that can fold hundreds of sheets per hour so you can get things in the mail much more quickly. We had a chance to give the 93M a try. Let's take a look at it and see what's great about it and if there's anything that might be problematic:

What's great:

  • The 93M has a feed tray that can hold up to 150 sheets of paper at once. When the machine is running, it's fast enough to fold up to 7,200 sheets per hour. It will definitely come in handy when you need to mail out a substantial number of invoices and/or correspondence.

  • It's not surprising that this machine can handle letter-sized paper (8.5" x 11"). However, it's a pleasant surprise to learn that it can handle sheets ranging in size from 4" x 5" to 8.5" x 14". The paper weight can be from 16 to 80 lbs. which is convenient.

  • In addition to doing the letter fold (i.e. folding a sheet into thirds), this device can fold sheets in half, in a Z-like pattern, and do a double parallel fold. Thus, you'll be able to choose from a number of folds and find one that's right for your document.

  • The 93M is extremely easy to use. The control panel is right on top of the device. The folding plates are color coded so you can have them set up in very little time. Best of all, this machine will shut off automatically when all your paper has been folded. This prevents the machine from burning out and reduces the risk of fire.

  • This is a great paper folder for desktop use is due to its reasonably compact size. It measures 14" (depth) x 25" (width) x 17.75" (height) so you can place it on your desk for easy access. The feed table and output tray can be folded in so you can save space.

  • The MBM 93M comes with a one-year warranty. Unfortunately, the warranty doesn't extend to the wearable parts.

What might be problematic:

  • While the feed tray can hold up to 150 sheets, you might find that refilling the tray gets tiring when you're trying to finish a large job.

  • The 93M has a exit tray that needs to be extended. This will take up some of your workspace when you're using the folder. However, you can fold the exit tray up when you're done with the folder.

  • You can expect to hear some noise from this device when it's operating. This might be a little bit distracting.

  • If you use this folder on a regular basis, you'll have to replace some of the wearable parts over time since they're not covered by the warranty.

There are a couple of things that might be problematic about the MBM 93M, but overall, we were really impressed with this paper folder. It can fold a lot of sheets in a short period of time, it's easy to use, and it can do four types of folds. Make sure you go over the lists that indicate what's good and problematic before you buy this machine but if you do get it, you will find it to be very helpful. Happy folding!
