The HTC Wildfire is the latest in a long line of Android Smartphones to be released from the renowned manufacturer. This versatile offering boasts many of features found on related HTC handsets, encased within a relatively compact and attractive handset.

Measuring 106.8x 60.4x 12 mm, the Wildfire is compact and also light weight at 118 g making it a pocket friendly handset. Its appearance is unique with a rather wide front whilst retaining a slimline profile.

An impressive 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen can display up to 16M colours within its pixel layout of 240x 320 pixels. The screen boasts a number of features ranging from multi touch input method, touch sensitive controls, a thumb controlled optical trackpad along with an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the HTC Sense user interface.

Users are alerted to incoming calls and messages thanks to a combination of vibration and ringing with the option to utilise MP3 music files as ringtones. The HTC Wildfire offers 384 MB RAM along with 512 MB ROM making up its internal storage and memory. In order to provide additional storage, the micro SD card slot is included on the handset which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB. This offers the potential to store huge number of files such as music tracks, video clips and photos etc. The internal phonebook can store a practically unlimited number of entries and fields and also boasts the popular Photocall feature which allows users to assign a photo to a particular contact in the phonebook and this is then displayed on screen whenever that person calls.

In order to connect to cellular networks and the Internet, the HTC Wildfire relies on a number of different methods to provide optimum connectivity dependent upon location and network coverage. Class 10 versions of GPRS & EDGE provide connections to cellular networks, whilst access to the Internet relies on 3G coverage and Wi-Fi Technology. In areas covered by 3G, an HSDPA connection provides access to the Internet at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second. Integrated Wi-Fi Technology allows users to enjoy a faster Internet connection whenever it senses the signals provided by wireless Internet routers.


As with many other HTC handsets, a 5 mega pixel digital camera is utilised cater for budding photographers. Thanks to its high operating pixel resolution, the resulting images are of stunning quality, and the camera also offers the ability to shoot video footage is an alternative method of image capture.

The HTC Wildfire offers a number of entertainment features ranging from a versatile internal media player which supports many formats of both music and video files, along with a number of pre-installed games and a stereo FM radio player with RDS. Social networkers are also catered for with Facebook, Flickr and twitter integration allowing them to stay up to date with their friends and family on the move. GPS with A-GPS support allows features such as geo-tagging and a digital compass to operate.

Boasting version 2.1 of the Android operating system, the HTC wildfire ticks all the boxes in terms of both aesthetic appeal and everyday functionality.
