HTC bring yet another impressive Smartphone to the table with the HTC Legend. This handset offers an impressive spec list incorporating a range of key features including touch screen technology, 5MP camera and the renowned Android operating system.
The HTC legend measures 112x56.3x11.5mm and weighs in at just 126 grams. Its light weight and slim line profile make it a comfortable handset to hold and use on the go. The 3.2 inch AMOLED touch screen displays up to 16 million colours within pixels set at 320x480. As well as touch screen navigation, an optical track pad is included, and the handset also features an accelerometer sensor which automatically rotates the screen image allowing it to be viewed in both portrait and landscape.
Internal memory is in the shape of 384MB RAM and 512 MB ROM, and a micro SD slot can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB for plenty of storage space for data such as media files. The phonebook has the photo call feature whereby a photo can be assigned to a contact and this is displayed on the screen every time they are on the phone.
Users are alerted to incoming calls and messages by a combination of ringing and vibration, with the ability to set MP3 and WAV music files as ringtones. A 3.5mm audio jack and a built in speakerphone system offer options for hands free communication.
The HTC legend is equipped with a digital camera boasting 5MP (2592x1944 pixel resolution) allowing users to take good quality still images. The inclusion of such features as autofocus and LED flash simplify the task, even in low lighting conditions. The camera can also shoot video as an alternative method of image capture.
In order to stay connected to networks on the move, the HTC Legend utilises a range of connectivity features. Initially, this is via class 10 EDGE and class 10 GPRS. HSDPA is available at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps in areas offering 3G coverage. To gain a faster internet connection, Wi-Fi harnesses the power of the signal given off by wireless internet routers, dependant on the strength of the local signal. Bluetooth is installed offering a convenient and efficient means of sharing data with friend in the same area. As the Legend is a multimedia device, users may want to connect it to a computer from time to time. This is achieved by using the built in mini USB connection, and allows certain tasks to be carried out such as transferring media files or backing up phonebook info.
A long list of functions add to the everyday usability of the HTC Legend. A versatile media player accommodates most of the common formats of video and music files, so the phone doubles up as an effective portable media player.
