HTC have achieved the seemingly impossible of incorporating full Smartphone technology into a handset measuring only 103x57.7x11.7mm. The HTC HD Mini offers a high level of functionality with key features including Microsoft Mobile Professional OS, 5 mega pixel camera and touch screen navigation of the user interface.

The TFT capacitive touch screen measures 3.2 inches and displays up to 65,000 colours within pixels set up at 320x480. This offers excellent quality display of the on screen content. The screen also features an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the screen, dependent on the orientation of the phone. This allows it to be viewed in both landscape and portrait.

As the name suggests, the HTC HD Mini is obviously a compact handset. As well as its small dimensions, it is also light weight at just 110 grams. This makes it a pocket friendly handset which is ideal for those who are on the move throughout the day. The phone itself is finished in a glossy black colour scheme.

Vibration and ringing alert users to incoming calls and messages, with the option to utilise MP3 and WAV files as ringtones. This allows users to customise their handset and hear the song of their choice whenever the phone rings. To speak hands free, a speaker phone and a 3.5mm audio jack are built in.

In order to attain internet connections as well as to connect to cellular networks, the HTC HD Mini relies on a number of connectivity features. In areas covered by 3G, HSDPA provides an internet connection at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, alongside HSUPA at 2 Mbps. A faster internet connection can be achieved through Wi-Fi, in areas where a wireless internet router is located. I areas with little or no 3G coverage, the HD Mini relies on class 10 versions of both GPRS and EDGE for its connections to cellular networks. USB and Bluetooth allow the handset to be connected to computers and compatible phones respectively, so a number of tasks can be carried out. These include transferring media files or backing up contact info.

The long list of features gives an indication of just how versatile the HTC HD Mini really is. Entertainment features include a versatile media player which supports most of the common formats of both music and video files, as well as a range of pre installed games and a stereo FM radio player. Social networkers are also well catered for with dedicated applications which allow direst access to sites such as Facebook, Flickr and Twitter. Extra features include a voice memo recorder, digital compass and GOs with A-GPS support.

As mentioned, the built in camera boasts 5 mega pixels, which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. Therefore, the quality of the still images it takes are of very good quality. It includes the autofocus feature which makes the tasks of taking quality snapshots a breeze. Video can also be shot in VGA quality at 25 frames per second.

The HTC HD Mini looks set to be a popular handset, as it offers appeal to a wide range of users from music fans and social networkers, to those who need a reliable productivity device.
