One of the beautification habits that most women practice is hair removal. As flaunting a beautiful, fair skin is the norm, women are very conscious about too much hair growth. They remove unwanted hair from body areas such as the eyebrows, chin, legs, arms, underarms, back, chest, and the bikini area.

There are several methods of hair removal, some more effective and with more lasting results than others. The effects of temporary hair removal methods may last from several days to several weeks. One such procedure is depilation which is the removal of hair from the surface of the skin. This can be done by shaving or trimming with the use of manual or electric shavers. Depilation can also be achieved with the use of creams or powders that chemically dissolve the hair.

Another method of temporary hair removal is epilation, which is the removal of the entire structure of the hair from the root. This usually has a longer effect than depilation. Epilation can be achieved by waxing, tweezing, threading, and other procedures. Among these, waxing is probably the method that most women prefer to use.

Waxing is done by spreading a thin layer of wax on the skin. A strip of paper or cloth is then pressed on top, and then removed in a swift motion against the direction of hair growth. Waxing can also be done with hard wax. Wax is thickly applied onto the skin. When it cools, the wax hardens, and is then removed. Because of the pain associated with the strip-wax method, most women use numbing cream for waxing.

The pain felt by people who undergo waxing may not be long lasting, but it can be quite intense, especially when waxing is done on the more sensitive areas. Nevertheless, most women still prefer to have their body waxed to get rid of unwanted hairs. The use of numbing cream for waxing has helped some people feel more at ease about waxing.

One of the more sensitive areas that women get waxed is the pubic region. Getting a bikini wax is almost always painful for the patient. Using bikini wax numbing cream may help in minimizing or eliminating the pain. The cream works by numbing the skin; the cream is applied at a certain period of time before undergoing a waxing procedure.
