Your sleeping position is very important when reducing pain and inflammation associated with sciatica. If you follow these 2 rules you can lessen the pain you have and have a better night's sleep.

Rule #1 - NEVER EVER Sleep on Your Stomach

When you sleep on your stomach this puts extra pressure on the disc and will also result in more pain when you wake up. The best position you want to sleep in is either on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your side with a pillow in between your legs. The pillow between your knees separates the legs and removes the pressure from the hips and lower back. This may seem uncomfortable in the beginning but as you get use to it you will see a drastic change in how you feel when you get up in the morning.

Rule#2 - Use a Tempur Pedic Pillow and always place the thicker side under your neck for proper support. Also make sure you have the correct size for your head. To insure that you have the correct size....lie on your side with 1 pillow in between your legs and the tempur pedic pillow under your head and have somebody draw an imaginary line from the center of your ear, the center of your shoulder, the center of your hip, and the center of you knee from top to bottom..........If the line is straight...you have the right size pillow. The most common size pillow is medium and its around $100.00 .........You can order a tempur pedic pillow by visiting http://www.yoursleepstore.com
