The Acer beTouch E101 was released in October 2009, and has successfully helped to build the reputation of the manufacturer in the Smartphone market.

The beTouch E101 measures 113x56x12.8mm and weighs in at 118. Its light weight and reasonably slim profile make it comfortable enough to hold and use on the move. The TFT resistive touch screen is capable of displaying 65,000 colours within pixels of 240x400. The screen itself is 3.2 inches, which is large enough to navigate the menus with ease using the touch screen. As an alternative method of navigation, a scroll wheel is included.

Several formats of music file can be assigned as ringtones with the beTouch E101. These include MP3 and WAV, whilst polyphonics can be downloaded. All of these work alongside vibration to alert of incoming messages and voice calls.

256MB RAM and 512MB ROM are included as standard, and a micro SD slot can be utilised to gain much more storage space. To do this, a larger memory card can be installed. The phonebook has room for a practically unlimited number of entries, and includes the useful photo call feature.

Class 10 EDGE and Class 10 GPRS provide the Acer beTouch E101 with its main method of connecting to networks. For file sharing free of charge with friend in the same area, Bluetooth v2.0 is included. To connect the phone to a computer, a mini USB connection allows users to carry out tasks including backing up and transferring files and data.

A 2MP digital camera (1600x1200 pixel resolution) offers a means to take reasonably good quality photos. Whilst this may not be the largest mega pixel count in the market today, the camera also offers the ability to shoot video as an alternative method of capture.

The Operating System of choice for the Acer beTouch E101 is Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. In conjunction with a 528MHz processor this provides a fast and smooth user interface.

Most common music and video files formats are supported by the built in media player, whilst a variety of pre-installed games provides additional entertainment options. Extra features of the handset include Pocket Office which is compatible with Office Documents, voice memo recorder and T9 predictive text.

The handset itself offers sophisticated styling with the screen surround in black with tasteful silver around the edges.
