The Acer beTouch E101 is a handset which looks aesthetically pleasing to the eye and is impressively functional. Utilising smart phone technology this handset offers affordability as well as practical and useful features. The handset comes with a QUALCOMM MSM 7225 528 MHz processor as its central processing unit as well as utilising Microsoft Windows mobile 6.5 professional as its operating system. The focal point of the Acer beTouch E101 is a 3.2 inch TFT resistive touch screen, which is able to display 65,000 colours at a pixel screen size of 240 x 400 pixels. In addition to the touch screen technology the handset also provides a scroll wheel as alternative and additional means of accessing functionality.


The handset comes with an internal memory of 256 MB of RAM as well as 512 MB of ROM, this can be further enhanced by utilising the microSD card slot if required. The handset comes with an MP3/MP4 player, which will play all major audio file formats as well as video files. Pocket office is also provided which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as OneNote and a PDF viewer. In addition to all of the aforementioned features a useful voice memo function is also provided.


The handset comes with a 2.0 mega pixel camera which operates at a pixel resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels and is in essence a snapshot style camera. Imagery taken with this camera is suitably good enough to be displayed on the screen however if printing is required some may find imagery is grainy.



The handset offers an impressive level of connectivity which includes GPRS, EDGE, blue tooth and miniUSB as well as satellite navigation, which is provided by the GPS function which also comes with A-GPS support


The Acer E1 is an impressive handset which provides a plethora of functionality encased within a stylish and eminently usable handset. Its popularity is justifiable considering its affordability and functionality.
