The Acer beTouch E100 is a new handset from Acer that was released in October 2009. Also known as the Acer C1 this handset offers a veritable menagerie of functionality and a style of its own. Measuring 113 mm x 56 mm and only 12 mm thick this handset is slim line, functional and a useful handset to own. Of all its many features the touch screen is one of its major benefits. It is fulsome in size and in colour reproduction. Since its release it has gained plenty of media coverage and justifiably so.

The phone comes with a 2.0 mega pixel camera which operates at 1600 x 1200 pixels. The cameras resolution lends itself perfectly as a snapshot camera although images may appear grainy when printed out. For those who prefer video recording and playback this is also offered on this handset at QVGA quality and is a useful alternative to the static image. Many modern phones now have video capabilities and with this phone it is a welcome addition.

The aforementioned 3.2 inch TFT touch screen is able to display 65,000 colours, this means that images portrayed are displayed with excellent colour reproduction. As its primary means of accessing functionality the handset utilises the Acer user interface version 3 and a scroll wheel. Both the UI and the wheel are responsive and simple to use and provide easy navigation between functionality.

GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, Blue tooth and microUSB provides a range of connectivity options which ensures the Acer beTouch E100 is able to be connected to multiple devices and perform numerous tasks while out and about. Internet access is available with speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps provided by the HSDPA connection. This makes web browsing fast and enjoyable. Satellite navigation is provided via the GPS function which also comes with the A-GPS support.

The Acer E100 utilises the Qualcomm MSM 7225 528 MHz processor as well as the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional operating system. This ensures the phone is responsive from a functionality point of view and provides effective multitasking. The appeal of the phone is not only on its looks but also on its functionality which is comparable with many other handsets available on the market currently.
