Before the Internet, telecommuting was not that common.
But with the advancement of more and more technologically advanced devices and equipment like the business card scanner and portable and inexpensive printers and c, telecommuting has become increasingly popular and an extremely viable option.
One device that has especially made telecommuting a popular option is the webcam.

The webcam basically brings your home office in clear view with both customers and other employees and management in your company.
It allows you to see them and them to see you whenever you're in eye's view of the camera.
In other words, no longer do you need to make those long commutes to your office to "see" your boss or to meet that new customer face-to-face.
That's because the web camera, along with its supporting software, brings them to your doorstep, no matter the actual distance involved.

Here's how it works.

The webcam utilizes a software program and a USB cable to upload your image so that others can clearly see you.
Once you upload the software, you then connect the webcam to your laptop or desktop computer and within seconds you'll be able to transmit your picture to others around the globe.
But it's just not any picture.
This amazing piece of equipment allows others to see you in "real time," as if you were sitting across from them.
Just remember that you have to be within distance of the webcam, which should be positioned on top of your computer.
If you're out of range, you won't be seen by the other person. And that other person needs to at his or her computer to see you (they don't need their own webcam).

Not all webcams are alike.
If you require a streaming type of video, purchase a system that has a high frame rate (you'll need a higher speed Internet rate).
On the other hand, if taking a few shots every 20 or 30 seconds is enough, consider buying a system that has a lower frame rate. But whichever system you choose, just make sure to dress professionally in front of the camera when working with clients or management, as a picture is worth a thousand words!
