O2 is a leading pan-European telecomms firm which has operations in Britain, Germany, Eire , the Czech Republic, Isle of Man and Slovakia.
A brief account
Back in 17th of Nov 2001, mobile communications firms which were part of UK Telecomms were split into a few key firms. This happened so as to brace its investors' position as a response to the declining ballpark value of the telecommunications industry in total back in later parts of the year 1990.
The subsidiaries which were among the split are BT Cellnet ( Telefnica O2 Great Britain ), Viag Interkom, Esat Digifone, Telfort, Manx Telecom in the Isle of Man as well as O2 Pacific Rim and O2 on the internet. The "O2 Online " subsidiary covers Britain, Ireland, Germany and Holland. It was rebranded as the "O2 Active " service later.
The planet's Busiest Arena is present in London
The O2 Arena is an inside event structure which is found in South East London at the Greenwich spur. It is able to accommodate up to 23,000 folk dependent on the kind of event and is among the Europe's biggest indoor arenas. The O2 Arena took the title of "World's Busiest Arena " away from the Manchester Evening News Arena which has held the position solidly since 2001.

Building the arena spanned 4 years ( 2003 to 2007 ). The arena was constructed roof first thanks to the fact that it may only be made on the ground and then lifted while the arena's support structure was built around it.
To accommodate different events, the seats within the arena might be moved around and customised, rather like the MEN Arena located in Manchester. The outer layer of the arena's ground may be tailored into a basketball court, an ice skating rink, formal event location, exhibition area as well as a performance locale.
To become a top-class concert locale, U2's sound boss Joe O'Herlihy worked closely with the arena's engineers so as to minimise the echo with the usage of seating positions as well as the implementation of sound soaking up measures on the roof. Although the arena is only open for 7 months in a year, it is associated with sold act shows from major act residencies like Britney Spears who sold out a total of eight nights back in June 2009 as well as Pink's five sellout dates for her Funhouse Tour.

Plans for 2010

A few new projects were revealed at the 2010 Mobile World Congress . The Movistar Haiku Project is among the ones that were displayed and it permits O2 customers to effect mobile capacities like music, photographs, videos, micro payment systems to their own mobile adverts. This is planned to inspire users to interact in real time and give them a method to publicize to their buddies or to folks in a certain location for a pre-specified quantity of time.
Another service featured is the 3G Box project. It gives clients unlimited storage by using a web info storage system. This gives a means for users to secure their info and be able to recover it whether or not the physical storage medium is lost. It also permits their clientele to view uploaded content like music and videos through web streaming and also share it with their contacts.
