I adore food, so you can imagine my concern when I saw the list of foods that we are not allowed to eat during the Candida diet.

My apprehension didn't ease when I saw examples of Candida diet recipes as I could see my time and money being whittled away on fancy ingredients and difficult cooking methods. (I was also a bit worried about how they would taste if I got it wrong!)

Of the more simple Candida diet recipes we were looking at broccoli and pumpkin soup, some leek casserole thingy and the usual 'put cottage cheese on a stick of celery'...not the most appetizing of choices.

I sat down and made a list of what foods we were allowed and then set about constructing a simple but effective eating plan.

Candida Diet Recipes for Breakfast
Either scrambled eggs or Rolled oat porridge made with water and topped with natural yogurt and cinnamon. (If you want to be a bit daring, add some grated apple and/or berries to the mix)

Candida Diet Recipes for Lunch and Dinner
These two can be swapped - what you do not have for lunch, have for dinner.

Salad
One of the cheapest and fastest meals to prepare out of all the Candida diet recipes is a basic salad.

By throwing together half a lettuce, a couple of red, green, yellow or orange peppers, a cucumber and an avocado or two you have the basics for an exceptional meal.
The real trick here is to change the flavor each time that you serve it up. Add lamb and minted yogurt one serving, tuna and lemon juice the next, chicken, cottage cheese and lemon juice on another.

Try a Stir Fry
Start with your basic oil, garlic, ginger and onion mix and cook until the onion is clear. The add your slower cooking veges like broccoli and cauliflower. Next add your celery and zucchini type veges. Top it all off with a couple of your leafy greens.
This gives you a really basic vegetable dish to use as a base for your meats and seasonings.

Candida Diet Recipes for Dessert
Sweets are really tricky during stage one - so if you absolutely must have dessert, but don't want to go to a lot of effort and expense, you are really limited to;

Natural unsweetened yogurt with;
cinnamon or allspice;
berries;
rolled oats or other soft whole grains.

Candida Diet Recipes For Treats
Grab a big rice biscuit and cover with your choice of;
Cottage cheese and cinnamon or chives
Tuna
Hummus
If you can stumble on or make bread that meets all the rules for stage one, then these toppings are absolutely divine on toast!

Use hummus, cottage cheese and yogurt as dips for small rice crackers and raw vegetables.

Store boiled eggs in the fridge and seize one when hunger hits.

A handful of nuts and seeds mixed together will do wonders for any nagging hunger pangs or munchies.
