Whether you hail from Seattle or Stockholm, Main Street is filled with people proudly wearing their favorite team logos and colors. Someone's favorite cap or comfy sweatshirt represents a special part of that person's personality: The Giants are my team; my colors are gray and blue; #28 is my favorite player.
Some people are attracted to sports because of a love of winning, a respect for the art of improvement, or the sheer thrill of the game. But even for those lukewarm sports fans, it's hard to deny that sports serves as a glue that connects people in socially constructive ways. And for the young athlete just learning how to throw a baseball and the long-time fan, your team pride will always be in fashion
In the United States, fall means one thing to most guys: football. Crisp, clean air and the excitement of the rally bring fathers, sons, and brothers together on many Monday nights in the living room and in stadiums across the country. But the love of football, or any sport for that matter, doesn't fall strictly along gender lines. Both men and women are equally competitive and are just as passionate when it comes to enjoying a live sporting event or an at-home game day.

In fact, before the late 1980s, many major sporting associations in the U.S. didn't have a diverse selection of sports merchandise that was geared towards their female fans. Sports collectables, clothing, and other novelty merchandise were made, usually exclusively, for men.
But in the mid-90s, Sports Marketing Group found that the NBA's popularity increased 70% among adult women between 1989 and 1993. Interestingly enough, they also found that the NBA's popularity among adult men's rose only 10% in that same period.
Around the same time, the Women's Sports Federation released a report stating that women, not men, were more likely to purchase certain types of sports merchandise. This report included data that women represented 89% of the purchasing power for certain sports goods, mostly sporting apparel and logo merchandise.
Soon retailers were getting the hint. Some merchandise was already being made that had a "women-friendly" appeal, but nothing that would sufficiently grab the purchasing power of the average female sports fan. So, riding upon a wave of new investigations into the demand for woman-centered sports merchandise, the NFL announced that it would begin creating a line of clothing and official sports merchandise that was designed especially with the female fan in mind. The new line would feature softer colors, smaller sizes, and logos that were tastefully incorporated into the overall design of the garments. As expected, sales for women's sports merchandise have exploded and demand has rapidly increased since then.

Ladies now have an endless selection of subtle, form-fitting cuts and feminine zip sweaters emblazoned with their favorite team's logo. Guys still have the option of choosing from a wide array of traditional sports merchandise along with a new infusion of novelty accessories and video gaming equipment. No longer does anyone have to suffer from merchandise-malaise. The selection of official NFL merchandise is almost never-ending!
When looking to show your team spirit, remember one thing: What are my options? Alternatives to the old-school foam-fingers and team-beads include an enormous selection. Official NFL gear is available for infants, toddlers, youth, adults, and even the child at heart.
So, I guess what I'm saying is: If you've never checked out a Steelers baby blanket or official NFL barbeque tool-set, you need to right now.
