All throughout my twenties I lived in New York, working for a magazine and living the non-stop life of drinks, dining out, concerts, going for coffee and excitement at every hour of the day. My social circle and I ate out nearly every night, sampling the many different tastes that a city with more than 20,000 restaurants has to offer! I was never bored with food, and always eager to try something new.

Now, several years, a husband, and two kids later, we have settled down into a quieter life in a small town outside the city. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and I have definitely outgrown my party days! However, there was a part of me that sometimes misses my old lifestyle and especially the pleasure of savouring the taste of a professionally prepared meal.

It is difficult to get our two young, energetic boys to sit still for an entire restaurant experience, and even if they could the selection of dining choices is very limited in our small town. It seems that all too often we are stuck with boring basics that the kids will eat but my husband and I find bland. I also found that when I lived in the city, my social life revolved around eating, with friends always meeting up for lunch and dinner at our favourite restaurants. So what did I do when wine and tapas with friends turned into ham and cheese sandwiches with the crusts cut off while watching cartoons?

How I found my secret recipe menu
Luckily enough, I found a way to bring my love of eating out in the big city to my new home in a small town. I found an amazing website selling a secret recipe menu that gives you the secret recipes behind the meals at many famous restaurant chains. With a bit of practice and the right ingredients, it hasn't taken me long to learn how to create meals that taste exactly like my favourite dishes at the Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Chili's and more!

I was surprised at how easy creating a a secret recipe menu could be, and a bit shocked when I thought of how much money my friends and I spent on dining out over the years when we could have made the same at home for so much cheaper! Not only do my husband and my two boys love the new treats that I make, I have also started hosting frequent dinner parties for my friends to enjoy girl time over great food!

I am really happy now, because I can have my peaceful life in my small town with my wonderful family, and yet still enjoy the great flavours and social interaction of eating out!
