Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will star in Transformers 3 - despite never acting before. The underwear company have made a video congratulating her on being Megan Fox's replacement as female lead in the movie, which you can watch below.

The model was apparently up against the likes of Gemma Arterton, Ashley Green and Zoe Salanda for the role.

Director Michael Bay worked with Huntington-Whiteley when he made an advert for Victoria's Secret.

A new female lead was needed after Megan Fox left the project having appeared in the first two films.

Michael Bay's blog has updated with official confirmation that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will be starring in Transformers 3.

While she has a wealth of modelling experience including some past work with Michael Bay this will be her first major acting role. It's so far unclear whether she will be playing Mikaela or a new character.

In a related story The Los Angeles Times talks about the production of Transformers 3. It has been shooting on a sound stage at the former Spruce Goose Howard Hughes hangar at Playa Vista. Exterior shots for the film will be shot throughout the Los Angeles area over the next several weeks. These include Long Beach, West Hollywood, Century City and Malibu.

Transformers 3 is set to shoot for six weeks with 4 1/2 months of shooting taking place in Los Angels. Other locations include Chicago, Detroit, Washington and Cape Canaveral, Fla., and a few foreign spots, including Russia and an undisclosed African country.

Transformers 3 comes to theaters July 1st, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

I guess the news really hadn't been confirmed, but it's still kind of funny to me that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley being confirmed as the replacement for Megan Fox in "Transformers 3" qualifies as news today. The last report revealed that she was a top contender and that an offer had in fact been sent out. Did anyone really think she was going to say no?
