As I look at the wooden kids picnic tables we have in the back yard, several great childhood memories establish to surface. Memories on the subject of a kids picnic table? Trust me, I'm serious!

When we were real little, the wooden kids picnic table was a wonderfull location to eat our PB&J sandwiches, watermelon, corn on the cob and all types of messy summer foods that we all loved. The wood childrens picnic table was for much more than eating on!

The table was also a leaping off point as we loved to put on capes and pretend we were superheroes. Back then Batman and Superman had been all the rage so we defended the area from the likes of the Joker, the Riddler, Lex Luthor, Braniac and the other super villains who would dare come into the area we so loyally defended.

When we weren't being superheroes, we'd get the largest umbrella we could find and see if we could hop off the table and feel like we were in the air. Of course, imagination had a lot to do with the notion that we were slowing down our 3 foot leap from the table.

Of course, the picnic table was the storage place for the huge bucket bursting of water balloons and other water toys where we saved the cache of wet supplies to toss at the girls as soon as they came into the backyard.

At night, the wooden kids picnic table served as the roof of the stronghold where we could cross the threshold of with our flashlights and imagine the terrors of the night that were just outside. Dad had an old canvas tarpaulin that he threw over the top to make it a excellent tent for our sleep-outs. We could shine our flashlights on the exterior to see who's flashlight beam was the brightest and may generate the longest beam. Our puppy definitely loved it as well and it seemed she always had a way of producing commotion and laughter every time she worked her way in.

When Mom came out with a tray full of lemonade and cookies and set them on table we, of course, were speedily seated and all set to enjoy the cool snacks. That was from time to time a downpayment for our dinnertime chores, which often included husking the corn on the cob.

Most times, we ate dinner inside but frequently ended up the meal in the backyard consuming watermelon or some other messy summer time dessert.

Come winter, we woudl stand the table up on it's side and use it as a barrier to keep cover behind throughout snowball fights or a place to put the hot chocolate.

Now, it's time for you to step into your thoughts machine and go way back to your childhood. Close your eyes and see the little boy or girl running or laughing and having so much fun with something as simple as a plain wooden kids picnic table! I do not know about you but for me, it really is a lot of enjoyment to look back and relive the fun times and laughter.

With all the everyday stresses, cell phones and being connected with the world every second of the day or night, it's stress-free and de-stressing to go back to the special time of your childhood.
