Most models can even be hung on the wall to save space if necessary giving them a big advantage over gas. They're also generally lighter in weight so making them easier to handle and manoeuvre.
I won't try and claim that electric mowers are silent, but they're a lot quieter than typical gas powered models. Anyone using a gas mower may quickly find they're in need of a pair of ear defenders! A quieter electric model will certainly make you more popular with the neighbours.
It's also worth bearing in mind the environmental factors, after all don't you want to enjoy your garden as part of a pleasant environment? Gas mowers can emit some pretty nasty fumes that you don't really want to be breathing in as you're mowing your lawn, while cordless lawn mowers obviously have no emissions.
