Why do gamers like playing games? Setting aside for the moment the wild popularity of wholesale video games, let's begin with the easier inquiry of why hyumans like play in general. We don't intend to include spectator sports, but rather are looking at inside pastimes that are engaged in by oneself or in a group and that use some kind of prop. People have amused themselves with these kinds of pastimes from time immemorial. There are many reasons, three of which are talked about here.

Mental exercise. All entertainments involve some degree of engagement of the higher faculties. True, if there were wholesale video games as rudimentary as Pong, the brain would not be engaged in much at all! Yet even Pong does require the gamer to watch carefully and respond. Turn your attention to higher level more complex action games like Battleship and you start to perceive the degree of smarts it takes to play. Then convert that into wholesale video games like Mortal Kombat and it is clear that the mind is going to be totally engaged!

The love of narrative. Even old-fashioned entertaiments like Monopoly have a type of narrative - the players are trying to get somewhere. But when it comes to wholesale video games that involve role-play, the story becomes as complex as living itself: tragic, funny or spine-tingling. Gamers become acquainted with their characters and begin to care about their pretend lives. That raises the love of narrative to new heights, because players are not bystanders but rather are affirrmatively reacting to and creating the tale.

Bells and whistles. Folks like to watch things that appeal to the senses! Even old-fashioned board games became more and more fancy as they evolved. Take something like Wheel of Fortune, the televised show with a noisy wheel, racheting sound effects as the wheel spins, and a lovely model. This began in the home version very simply and then has gotten snazzier, with more eye-catching decor and more elaborate design. And when it became a part of the offerings of video game wholesalers, the modest Wheel of Fortune became a genuine joy-stick worthy game!

Of course, we haven't even scratched the surface regarding the attraction of wholesale video games, but this is a start!
