Orgnanic Children's Clothing - Benefits of Eco-Friendly Children's Clothes

The word "organic" and anything related to this word has become a very hot-button subject. It has gained such prominence that if a product contains one component that is from an "organic" source, the entire product will be marketed as having "organic" materials. This also relates to organic children's clothing.
Organic children's clothing has experienced a meteoric rise. In fact, the Organic Trade Association's 2007 Manufacturer's Survey states that children's clothing grew 56 percent from 2005 to 2006 and infant's clothing and cloth diapers grew 40 percent during the same period of time. This astronomical figure illustrates the pervasive desire to have products made from organic materials, especially children's clothes. The question then becomes, "Why is it so desirable to have our children wear clothes from organic sources?"
According to Johnson & Johnson, "A baby's skin is thinner, more fragile and less oily than an adult's. A baby's skin also produces less melanin, the substance that helps protect against sunburn. It's less resistant to bacteria and harmful substances in the environment, especially if it's irritated. Babies also sweat less efficiently than the rest of us, so it's harder for them to maintain their inner body temperature." In short, a baby's skin is so much more sensitive than an adult's skin that any irritant like pesticides and other toxins found in conventionally produced cotton can be hazardous to your child.
Besides being healthier for your children, organically grown cotton is better for the environment as well. It is grown using methods that have a low impact on the environment and the methods used also replenish the soil. Do not believe that just anyone can claim to have organic cotton. If it is sold in the United States, the cotton must meet strict federal regulations on how it is to be cultivated.
