The market for this camera is the people who love the rugged outdoors and who want a camera that can withstand some abuse. Not only is this camera waterproof, but it is designed to take a six foot drop. It's also reported to be freeze and crush proof. There - take that!

For more of an overall application and less specialization, you may want to consider the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5. This in spite of relatively lacking jpeg processing ability, but you won't be disappointed with the photos you shoot. This 10.1 megapixel pocket sized camera has a 3 inch TFT LCD display. The DMC-LX5 is the next generation follow up to the super successful DMC-LX3. Improving on the LX3 was quite the task for Panasonic.

There's not much improvement from the LX3 to the LX5 that we can tell. The sensor in the LX5 is only about 30% more sensitive than that of the LX3. The LX5 also use a higher index for color rendering on the LCD, in addition to the LED back lighting for improved color.

The selection of pocket size digital cameras is truly vast for a lot of reasons. The best approach is to determine your particular needs and budget, of course, because you can find some truly great digital cameras that are affordable. High pixel counts are only necessary if you're planning to print out very large prints so don't make them your first priority. It's important not to be swayed by marketing campaigns that might try to convince you that you need high pixel numbers.
