PC versus MAC

The central question for everyone wishing to buy a computer is "Do I buy a Mac or a PC?" The main practical difference between PC-compatibles and Apple Macs is that Macs are far easier to use. This is due to the fact that the operating system (OS), which is the program that you first see when the computer is turned on and ready to go, is more intuitive in its working on a Mac than it is on a PC. In addition, all Macs readily accept peripheral devices, professional models expand very easily, and all network as soon as you connect together two or more. On a PC, the addition of anything beyond a printer is tricky at best - at worse, which is not unusual, you will have to reinstall all of your software.

For serious digital photographic work you will want to increase RAM greatly: on many PC models, it is difficult to add a large amount of RAM. However, PCs are better at doing several tasks (running different programs) at the same time, although the Mac OS X brings Apple Macs to par even in this area.

Surveys and studies consistently reveal that creative workers are more productive and more profitable on Macs than on PCs - a fact that counters the relatively small extra price of buying a Mac In digital photography, control over colour is important on the Mac, colour management is thoroughly worked out and can be made reliable; on the PC it remains untrustworthy. Another important advantage of the Mac is that ft can run Windows software easily - with special software such as Connectix Virtual PC - and it can also read Windows-produced disks of any type. While nearly everyone in the world uses a PC-compatible machine most creative people producing content for Web pages, magazines, photography, books, and advertising are Mac users.
