The call for celebratory events occurs worldwide as different occasions and occurrences invite the need for celebrations by paying special tributes or enjoying party festivities. Different occasions call for different needs and every type of celebratory event is usually dependent on culture and/or religion. However, there are some celebrations that occur on a global span, despite different avenues or names in which each celebration is partaken. Certain monumental celebrations occur, as some significant events are important to all aspects of culture and religion.

Some of the most popular celebrations include the following:

Christmas
Normally celebrated on December 25th as a Christian occasion to celebrate the birth of Christianity's central figure, Jesus Christ, the actual birthday of Jesus is not truly known. Christians and non-Christians alike have adopted the occasion, turning it into a prolonged holiday season. With the constant debate of non-Christians celebrating an occasion involving the religious name of "Christ", it has become standard to refer to the traditional occasion as "the holiday season". Popular modern day holiday customs include music, gifts and greeting cards, a special meal or party, church celebrations and a variety of decorations on display such as Christmas trees, lights, mistletoe, holly, garlands and nativity scenes. Santa Claus, who is also known as Father Christmas, is a staple part of modern Western folklore and is considered the primary gift-giver during Christmas time. Other cultures celebrate Christmas under different premises. For example, the Jewish celebrate the occasion Hanukkah, Germans celebrate Yule, and African culture celebrates Kwanzaa.

Birthdays
A particular event that is celebrated around the globe yearly is a person's birthday, which marks the specific month and day a person was born. Different cultures celebrate particular birthday years that are commemorated to mark particular milestones or rites of passage in a person's life. In American culture, a young woman's 16-year-old birthday is considered to be a significant event during which the young lady enters womanhood and is often celebrated with a big, festive event. In Jewish culture, the ages of 13 for Jewish boys and 12 for Jewish girls are significant adulthood milestones during which they celebrate their bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah, respectively. Birthday celebrations can be accompanied with a variety of different types of events, ranging from large parties to small get-togethers.

Graduation
Whether a person has achieved a milestone in primary, secondary or post-secondary education, the accomplishment of completing any form of schooling usually calls for a celebration. The ability to achieve higher levels of education is an important aspect of culture worldwide, and the celebration of these achievements is highly regarded in many cultures. Highlight graduation occasions are the completion of secondary school and post-secondary education. However, as it is becoming more popular to further split sections of school levels, graduation celebrations during younger schooling years are becoming more popular as celebratory occasions.

Career
Obtaining a new, desirable job is definitely worth celebrating. This may involve a completely new position that a person has been vying for, or it may involve a promotion or exclusive transfer. Career milestones are closely related to achievements in education and a person's first job is a particular momentous event. As a person continues to achieve success, the celebrations continue to mark the levels of accomplishments obtained. Regardless of any particular job-related event, acquiring a career opportunity that is both desirable and meets a person's status needs is a common call for celebration.
