We are all familiar with the age old saying, "out of sight, out of mind". In some situations this adage holds true, however when it comes to your home, your family or your business it is most likely not always applicable. If you are worried about what goes on when you aren't around, it may be time to consider some new technology to make sure you know what is going on at all times. Here are a few situations where knowing what happens when you aren't present can offer valuable insight.

- In home child care- Parents can't always be with their children every minute of every day. In an ideal world, it would be nice to think the people we trust to care for our children while we are out of the home, are treating our kids as we would ourselves. Unfortunately that is not always the case. Hidden cameras, often referred to as "nanny cams" have witnessed behavior and treatment of children that no parent would approve of if they were present. With these cameras you can watch the nanny as they watch your children to ensure your kids are safe and not suffering neglect or abuse at the hands of the person in charge of their care.

- Work place- Whether you are a business owner who wants to keep a close eye on the actions of your employees or an employee who needs to document work place harassment, there are many instruments available to record actions that take place in the work environment. Cameras and audio recorders can provide the information and documentation needed to prove improper behavior on the work front.

- Safety in the home- One of the most popular uses of cameras and other security systems is increasing safety in the home. Whether you choose to monitor your entire property or specific areas which cause concern, security devices available today can make a person feel safe and secure in the place they need it most- at home.

- Supervise older children- Parents often breath a sigh of relief when their children are old enough to stay home without a babysitter. Just because the need to supervise a child care provider has passed does not necessarily mean your kids don't need extra supervision. In home cameras can record activities taking place in the home when you are not present that you would otherwise not approve of. These activities might be childhood behavior that is not acceptable or activities that could put your children in harm. In either event, knowing what is going on while you are away is important when dealing with older children.

These are just a few instances where having security or hidden cameras in place will keep you in the loop regarding activities in your home or business. While some people frown on this potential invasion of privacy, the reality is we are all being recorded in most public locations. There are certain situations where it is better to be informed than waiting for a potentially dangerous or costly lesson to be learned that could have been prevented had more information been available to you.
