Tow trucks come in all shapes and sizes, but no matter what kind of tow truck you’re driving or what kind of job you’re doing—whether you’re pulling a car into impoundment or out of a wreck—there are a handful of products on the market to make your job safer and more efficient from day to day.

Lights, Lights, Lights
When it comes to any working vehicle on the road, nothing is more important than towing lights. Flashers, strobes, beacons, search lights, light strips, light bars: all of these are necessary to see and be seen.

Remote controlled search lights with 360 degree rotation are easy to install; with their complete mobility, you’ll have absolute control, which is important when in an emergency situation.

LED lights come in every type imaginable. From LED strobes, to LED light strips with turn signals, LED is the way to go. Not only do they shine brighter than other lights, but they last longer, too. You won’t have to worry about spending all your time and money replacing bulbs.

LED flashlights are good to have around, too. When searching for things in your cab, or hooking up a load at night, having a flashlight handy can be a real life saver. LED flashlights are small and lightweight, making them easy to keep in your pocket or in your glove box.

Incandescent lights may not be as bright as LEDs, but they’re efficient and plenty cheap. You won’t have to spend more than around $5 or less when purchasing an incandescent light, making them easy on your wallet. They are good for marking any spot on your vehicle for ultimate night time visibility.

Wireless lights are easy to mount on your vehicle. Dealing with wiring can be tedious, frustrating, and time consuming. Just mount them, and set up the transmitter and they are ready to go. Especially for trucks that have been repurposed for towing, wireless lights are a quick and easy option.

Rear View Cameras
Yes, we know that tow truck drivers are experts at backing up, but that doesn’t eliminate blind spots and other difficulties. Rear view cameras with digital imaging give you an accurate, uninterrupted image of the job at hand. No more sticking your head out the window or jerking it about trying to see everything from your mirrors. With a clear view of everything right in your cab, you won’t have to get out from your truck until it’s time to hook things up, which will be especially nice during those cold winter months.

Safety in Action
Unless you are required to wear one, you may think that a safety vest is an unnecessary precaution— but we disagree. When working on the roads at night, you want to be as visible as possible, and relying upon the lights on your vehicle for this is not wise. Safety vests ensure that no matter where you’re at, you’re seen. This keeps both you, and those on the road safe. Both Class 2 and Class 3 rated safety vests offer the most square inches of reflective material. They come in yellow, orange, and green. Don’t let pride keep you from ensuring your safety on the job.

With so many products out there to consider, it can be difficult deciding which ones to purchase. Towing products can get pricey, but you can’t put a price tag on safety and efficiency. Plus, there are companies out there that offer affordable, top-of-the-line towing products, be it LED Lights, rear view cameras, or safety gear.
