It is interesting to see some artists who make use of a grid in order to transfer photo to painting canvas. By gridding you can make a big difference as it is one of the best ways to exactly draw an image. The best part about gridding is that it lets you carry out your drawing or painting in smaller segments. This eventually helps in making marvelous image.
Some may think that transferring a photo to canvas can only be done by an expert but it is true fact that even a novice can make use of the technique in order to create any photo perfectly. Here are the steps on how to do it:
1. You need to tape the photo that you want to replicate to a firm surface and then by putting a see-through sheet on top of the photo and tape it. Ideally, photos that are lighter can work the best as it is not difficult to make out its details but you can make use of any photo to reproduce.

2. On top of the photo, by using a ruler and marker you may draw lines vertically and horizontally to create grids. Make sure all the grids are of the same size. If you have no clue as to what should be the size of the grid, you can grids that measures one-inch square. You need to keep in mind that each grid that you make is large enough to fit in an identifiable portion of the photo that you intend to transfer.

3. Start photo to canvas transfer by dealing with one square at a time. Double check to see the number of squares on the canvas is same as that is present on the photo. Also remember in mind to make all the lines light so that you can paint over them.
