Every Halloween, parents bring out their inner child to join in the festive fun. Along with their children, they would try to come up with the spookiest look they can find. One crucial element to the festival is the gory props. While it is fun to put the props together, families tend to find trouble of keeping them later on. However, if these props are made edible, that problem is solved. In this article, you will learn how to make a disgustingly-edible severed finger. (Now talk about taking a man-eating role this Halloween!)

In this 5-minute project, you will need 3 cocktail sausages, an onion, and some ketchup or barbeque sauce. Parental supervision is needed when using knives.

What you will first need to do is to get a pot of water boiling. To make the three fingers, while the cocktail sausage is in a vertical position, make three shallow, horizontal slices at the middle of each cocktail sausage. These slices will appear to look like knuckles.

Next, put the sausages and onion to boil for approximately 2 to 3 minutes. You will see the ‘knuckles' taking form as the sausages slightly expand in the water. Take the sausages and onion out and leave to cool.

To make the nails, you will need to take a thick, sturdy layer of onion off, and cut the layer into small triangles.

As for the ‘nail beds', make a small flat space at one end of the sausage using a knife. Apply some ketchup or barbeque sauce on the ‘nail beds'. Then, press the onion-made nails into the ‘nail beds'. Do not worry if the ketchup or barbeque sauce oozes out - it would simply look like bloody nails.

After that, embed part of the ‘fingers' into a small bowl or a cup with some ketchup or barbeque sauce. You may heat the sauce up before filling it into the container so that your ‘fingers' stay humanly-warm longer.

This makes an excellent gory prop; a literal ‘finger food' that will give your guests the chills.
