In 2009, smash hit film 'Legally Blonde' (2001) become the hit theatre show of the West End of London. The film that starred American actress Reese Witherspoon won over fans on both sides of the pond. The endearing story of a pampered young socialite who follows the boyfriend who dumped her off to his college in Boston warmed hearts everywhere. At the prestigious Harvard Law School, Elle Woods manages to turn heads, make waves and impress her ex-boyfriend. Elle became the darling of the law school and success in her own right an ambitious law student.

The success of the first "Legally Blonde" and sequel film launched to the "Legally Blonde" the musical which début in pre-Broadway tryout in San Francisco, California. In 2007, "Legally Blonde" took centre stage on Broadway's Palace Theatre. Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the musical's weekly gross of more than $1,000,000 became the recurring weekly tally as the musical sensation grew in popularity.

The musical is based on the "Legally Blonde" book by Heather Hach and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin. The musical rose to receive seven Tony nominations. The sky was the limit for the musical with the big heart. In October 2009, the cast members recorded a pop video to the song "So Much Better." One month later, the cast performed a song for the BBC televised Children In Need telethon on 19 November, 2009.


On December 5, 2009, the "Legally Blonde" West End production début at the Savoy Theatre. The official opening for the fast rising musical took place on January 13, 2010. London's production cast includes Sheridan Smith stars as Elle Woods along with Alex Gaumond as Emmett and Peter Davison as the professor. Other cast include replacement members Susan McFadden as Elle, Richard Fleeshman as Warner, Denise Van Outen as Paulette, Carley Stenson as Margot, and Siobhan Dillon as Vivienne.

Tickets are available at the Savoy Theatre, Savoy Court, London WC2R. Monday to Saturday box office is open from 10am and Sunday from 11am. The first ever ticket lottery for a London West End production was introduced for "Legally Blonde" after the successful scheme became popular on Broadway. The musical taking the world of entertainment by storm grossed £2 million in advance sales before it officially opened. Due to the popularity of the London West End show, "Legally Blonde" has been granted extended showing until October 2011.
