Brenda Edwards (40) is from Luton, England, and is a singer and actress. She rose to fame as a finalist on The X Factor and has since become a West End star.

She is married to Patrick and has a daughter, Tanisha, and a son, Jamal. Brenda is currently playing the part of Killer Queen in the Queen musical, We Will Rock You, on now at the O2.

The house I grew up in . . . was in Luton, England, I have one older brother, Rodney.

When I was a child I wanted to be . . . a hairdresser. I still play about with my own hair, my daughter's, my son's, anyone who will let me get my hands on their hair.

If I could change one thing about myself I would . . . change my toes, I don't like them, they are too big and ugly.

You wouldn't know it but I'm very good at . . . poker.

You may not know it but I'm terrible at . . . ice skating, I have fallen every time I've been on the ice, I'm not very good at balance.

When I look in the mirror I see . . . a young, vivacious woman.

My favourite item of clothing is . . . lycra, anything in lycra -- it stretches so it's brilliant.

My alter ego is . . . the Killer Queen.

I wish I'd never worn . . . UGG Women's Fluff Flip Flops, because they weren't very supportive when I fell over yesterday.

I drive . . . a Vauxhall Astra 1.8 GLS, it's silver.

A book that changed me . . . was Charlotte's Web, by EB White. It was the first book I read when I was at school and I just loved the whole story. It's about somebody being nice to somebody else, and not judging a book by its cover, so that's what I try to do too.

If I have five minutes free I . . . sleep, or catch up on the soaps. I love all the soaps; EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Home and Away, Neighbours, I love TV. If I have a few minutes to spare I'm watching the TV.

My greatest regret is . . . that I didn't start singing seriously earlier. I sang in church but I never took it seriously when I was younger and never took it further when I was a teenager. If I had started five years earlier, where would I be now?

My real-life villain is . . . the taxman.

The person who really makes me laugh is . . . my company manager, Jane Thompson, she's a very funny lady and she does make me laugh without even trying.

The last time I cried . . . was yesterday when I fell over backstage before the performance. I'm very clumsy. I was crying with the pain, my ankle is all strapped up now because I sprained it -- but the show must go on.

My five-year plan is . . UGG Women's Classic Tall Boots
. world domination, and conquer all in music, film and cooking. I'm a mean chef -- macaroni is my specialty.

My life philosophy is . . . to live life to the full, you really never know what's around the corner.

We Will Rock You, runs at the 02 until Sunday, January 31. For tickets, see www.ticketmaster.ie www.wewillrockyou.co.uk
