The timeline of history is a record of historical events over successive years. From this record we, as a world, are to look at these events and learn how they evolve and lessons we can learn from them. Through the lessons, citizens of the world should create a freer, more prosperous and peaceful existence. Unfortunately this is not always the case. The world still has countries controlled by governments, starving populations, wars and genocide.

World War II, (the war to end all wars) brought the battle weary countries together to form the United Nations. The UN replaced the League of Nations in 1945. Quoting from Wikipedia encyclopedia, “. . . United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace.”. On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations enacted an historical act titled The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Daily, the WikiLeak and its founder, Julian Assange, has been in the headlines and topics of The New York Times, Reuters, allmajor news sources throughout the world, United Kingdom, Sweden, Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, Interpol and many nations. WikiLeak’s claim that their, and I quote from their official website, “. . . most important activities is to publish original source material alongside our news stories so readers and historians alike can see evidence of the truth. . . The broader principles on which our work is based are the defense of freedom of speech and media publishing, the improvement of our common historical record and the support of the rights of all people to create new history. . . Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In particular, Article 19 inspires the work of our journalists and other volunteers. It states that everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. We agree, and we seek to uphold this and the other Articles of the Declaration.”

Recent actions taken by the sources above as well as others seem to believe different from WikiLeak’s doctrine. Amazon.com, PayPal and the bank in Switzerland each closing WikiLeaks accounts, judicial decisions of many countries refusing to offer safe haven to Julian Assange are each, in their own way demonstrating their own beliefs on the matter of the way WikiLeaks presents itself to the journalistic world and their methods of news presentations. WikiLik shows no concern for the effects on a person’s privacy, the way WikiLeak’s report neither the news nor the Political, social or tragedies that may result from their reports. WikiLeaK has taken it upon itself to carry the banner to, “the improvement of our common historical record and the support of the rights of all people to create new history . . . most important activities is to publish original source material alongside our news stories so readers and historians alike can see evidence of the truth”. Is this reporting being done for our benefit or for the benefit of Julian Assange? One thing for sure, world leaders and financial institutions are fighting back. Is what is being reported news? Are these reports providing us a history timeline to improve our lives? It is my opinion that WikiLeaks should be placed alongsideThe Enquirer, The Globe and all the other rag magazines to tantalize readers looking for dirt garbage and innuendo in order to fill that to fill the grapevine.
