It is possible to regrow lost hair if you're quick. Hair follicles become dormant before they die completely. The faster you act the more chance you have of regrowing lost hair. The most important thing you can do is stop or at least slow down your hair loss as quickly as possible. If you can achieve that you may be able to save the dormant hair follicles before they die completely, then you can begin to re-activate the dormant hair follicles.

Stopping or slowing down hair loss

Before you can start to regrow your hair, you need to do everything you can to stop or slow down the hair loss. Here are five quick tips you can use to immediately help stop your hair loss:

1.Tap your head with a hard bristled hair brush 100 times, twice per day. This will help promote increased blood flow in the scalp, which is basically what topical Minoxidil does. By increasing the blood supply in the scalp you will help feed growing hair.
2.Get some liquid Saw Palmetto extract. Saw Palmetto is a herb that has been proven to inhibit the production of a hormone by-product known as DHT. DHT is probably the most significant cause of hair loss in most people. If you can inhibit the production of DHT you can buy yourself more time. Remember, always consult your doctor before introducing unfamiliar supplements into your diet if you're not sure how you'll react to them. There are (very rare) reports of negative side-effects of saw palmetto, though these are few and far between.

3.Get some heavy exercise. Try to break into a sweat and get out of breath for twenty minutes to an hour, three times per week. Exercising like this boosts your circulation, helps relieve stress and sweating helps remove toxins from the body via the skins pores. Don't over exercise and make sure you eat plenty of healthy food to replenish your body.
4.Get plenty of sleep. The body cleanses itself at night while you're sleeping. Try to get between 7 and 9 hours sleep every night. Getting a decent amount of sleep every night will also help reduce your overall stress levels, which will benefit your hair greatly.
5.Try a hair supplement containing B vitamins, particularly Biotin. Do a Google search for hair supplements. The more you can feed your hair the better, but there's absolutely no point taking more than the recommended dosage – your body will simply eliminate the excess nutrients without using them.

Reactivating dormant hair follicles

Now, if you're doing what you can to slow down your hair loss, the next stage is to re-activate hair follicles that have become dormant and so get your hair back to somewhere near it's original thickness.

To do this you need to get your body back into 'hair growing mode'. That means you need the right hormonal balance, your scalp needs to be in the correct condition for hair growth and you need the building blocks of hair available and useable in your scalp.
