Getting your child involved in everyday kitchen activities is important, as not only will they learn to take responsibility, they will also learn the importance of helping you in the kitchen. Kids cooking must not be a nuisance or a type of punishment. A mistake that some parents do is that they entrust a kid to arrange a kitchen drawer or make them do some simple kitchen work as a punishment. This will only push them away from the kitchen, and they will never know that this can be an enjoyable experience.

Kids cooking is a subject that interests every kid. The simple make believe tea parties they have, making mud cakes and paper scones are little tasks that thrill them, and imagine their enthusiasm if they are permitted to get involved in daily kitchen activities. Here are a few tips as to why you should get your child involved in everyday kitchen activities.

• In an era where kids live on junk food, when cooking they will learn the nutritional value and the importance of eating healthy. Eating healthy has to be started when they are young, and what best way to start it than now. Remember, that kids take pride in their preparations, and making a dish with nutritious vegetables and fruits will be one way to feed your kids if they are picky about eating.
• By cooking they learn self confidence and self esteem. As once the dish is prepared they feel that they are able to turn out a dish, and this can boost their self confidence.
• Kids will learn about measurements and math, organization, self discipline, reading and following instructions along with the art of cooking.
• Will make them feel responsible for their actions. If mistakes are done, they will know how to put them right and will responsible for the wrongs they have done.
• Will learn that waste of food is a waste of money. Kids will not throw away the favorite dish they have made, and thereby learning the importance of not wasting.
• Mom, they will appreciate your hard work too.
• Will learn the importance of being clean, and cleanliness when cooking.
• Will learn to clear up the mess they have made in the kitchen. Cleaning up too is a part of the learning process, these little acts will teach your kids of storing things in the right place.

Kids cooking will bring you and your kids closer to each other. The way you have childhood memories of cooking with your mom, these memories will be cherished by your kids, and they in return will pass it down to their families.
