If there's one office task no one likes getting stuck with, it's folding paper. Folding documents is time-consuming, hardly intellectually stimulating, and it can result in stinging paper cuts. One way to ensure this job gets done with a minimal amount of effort and frustration is by using a mechanical folder, such as the new desktop models from Formax. They have two desktop units - the FD305 and FD312 - that can really help you out. Here some details on this two products. Check them out.

1. The Formax FD305.

  • This is Formax's smallest folder. It has dimensions of 12" (length) x 5.6" (width) x 12.5" (height). It only weighs ten pounds and it would easily fit on top of a desk.

  • The hopper can hold up to 20 sheets of 20 lb. paper and when running, the machine can fold up to 20 sheets per minute. (The fold it performs is the letter fold.)

  • The FD305 has both manual and automatic modes. When the machine is in manual mode, you can fold three sheets at a time instead of one.

  • The FD305 is incredibly easy to operate. All you need to do is load your paper and then press a button. After all the pages have exited the machine, it will shut down automatically. If you run into a paper jam, you can use a jam release lever to help clear up the problem.

  • This device can only handle letter-sized paper, so keep that in mind if you anticipate needing to fold legal-sized items.

2. The Formax FD312.

  • The FD312 is slightly larger than the FD305 with measurements of 11.6" (length) x 14" (width) x 14.5" (height). While it will still fit on a desk or tabletop, it will definitely take up more room than its smaller cousin.

  • This machine's hopper can hold up to 200 sheets. Up to 150 sheets of those can be folded in just one minute. This device will work with both letter- and legal-sized documents.

  • The FD312 can definitely do more folds than the FD305. Some of the ones it can do include letter, accordion, half, and some custom folds.

  • Like the FD305, the FD312 is very easy to use. Just load your sheets in the hopper (no fanning required) and push the button. The fold settings are clearly marked so you'll have no trouble selecting the right one.

  • This machine is a bit more expensive than the FD305, so be sure to choose the one that's right for your particular budget.

Formax Desktop Folders are a great alternative to having a colleague get stuck with the dirty work of folding paper. These machines are efficient, affordable, and easy to use. Plus, they give you a number of folding options in a device the size of a laser printer. If you need a paper folder, consider getting one from Formax. Your folding jobs will get done much faster...and you won't have to deal with those nasty paper cuts.
