The HTC Tattoo is HTC's up-to-date Android handset, designed to bring the Android platform to a greater market with a lower cost device than old HTC Android mobile phones.

The HTC Tattoo is almost the same as the HTC Touch 3G only that it runs on the Android platform rather than the Windows mobile one but is still fairly similar in terms of technical specs. The HTC Tattoo phone has a 2.8" 240 x 320 pixel touch sensitive screen, a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera, integral GPS and a digital compass, 3.5G support, Wireless Internet and microSD expandable storage.

The Tattoo's media player can cope with most major formats including MP3, AAC, MPEG4 and Windows Media. A 3.5mm audio socket is also a decent and a large advancement over the past models that has the USB earphone setup instead. There is an internal FM radio receiver as well.

The Tattoo mobile phone have packed the regular Android bundle and have exercised their magic on it, making a unified means of tagging inter-group communications, and a version of the TouchFLO user interface on top. There are all sorts of Google package involved as well, one example is Google Maps.

Design-wise the HTC Tattoo has a really sleek design. A very packed device measuring about 106 x 55 x 14mm and weighing about 113 grams. The Tattoo mobile device's battery can function for about 5 hours 40 minutes talktime on 3G and 21 days of standby time in a single charge.

Inside is the common Qualcomm MSM7225 528 MHz central processor, paired with 256 MB of RAM which is a standardized setup to most other identical phones.

Release of the HTC tattoo phone will be early October and will be available maybe in varying frequencies, while accessibility of this mobile phone in other areas will follow at a later time.

The number of Android handsets in the market right now is fairly substantial, but the question still hangs on, is there actually a "mass market" for Android mobile phones of these sort? We will just have to wait and see.
