Birdcage bridal veils are once again a very popular style and this article will show how to make a bridal veil that will look like it came from the finest wedding boutique.

The veil fabric called netting for this unique style is usually French or Russian which has a large open diamond pattern. Some patterns have dots or crystals scattered across the fabric. Bridal illusion can also be used and it will have a very soft, feminine look and feel.

The length choices are varied as they are with the traditional veils and that gives many different looks. The smallest choice is a tiny piece of the veil that is placed on top of the hair and usually attached with a clip or fascinator.

A piece of netting can be arranged to cover one eye by placing it on one side of the hair with a flower clip or headband. This is a very elegant look for the bride who just wants a small amount of veil.

Full eye coverage is another lovely look having the netting fall just below the eyes. The netting is attached with bobby pins on each side of the head. This look is also paired with a hair clip or fascinator and the final look is like a small hat with a veil.

Netting falling just to the top of the nose is a bit more substantial. The same embellishments as above will make it an elegant, stylish look.

Next is having the netting fall to the chin level. This gives a full coverage and is also very elegant. A very lovely look for this netting is to have the fascinator larger such as a small pillbox hat adorned with flowers.

Making a birdcage veil is very easy and is not expensive especially if you make it yourself. French or Russian netting can be purchased in 9" and 12" widths and sold in pieces or by the yards. It is as easy as cutting the length of netting and attaching it with bobby pins.

It does look best when a hair clip or fascinator is used with it. When purchased, these items can be very expensive. Fascinators average under $100, but depending on the style can be half that or more than a thousand dollars.

It is also easy to make your own flower clip and fascinator. The clip is attached to an alligator clip or comb. Thin headbands can also be used. A beautiful fabric flower is glued to a small piece of felt or ribbon. Another piece of felt is placed under the open clip and glued to the first piece of felt. This will hold the flower securely.

A fascinator can be attached the same way. The difference is that the flowers are attached to a sinamay disc or mini hat or they are grouped together with feathers to create a "hat". This is not only a very lovely hair piece, but it is a clever way to wear a hat without covering most of the hair style. It is also easy to remove without messing up the hair.

Since William and Kate's wedding, fascinators are being included in weddings, proms, and other high fashion social events. Cosmo, Brides Magazine, and the cat walks are making a very big statement with them. They really are so special it's definitely a must have for many!

If you are looking for a unique look that is lovely and fashionable this is by far the easiest way to make a bridal veil.
