In spite of your innate creativity and unique sense of style, even you might need a little expert advice or a jumpstart in the right direction for a design project. Whether you've replaced your own bathroom fixtures and need a new look to match, or you are a pro with a touch project to tackle, a little advice is always helpful...especially if it's close by, convenient and free!

Use online interior design tools to find the perfect color. You'll need to be aware that the perfect paint color depends on the light and size of your space. However, you can get a pretty good idea of what your room will look like in various colors just by using a basic imaging program. Some of these tools are available online but you'll usually have to pay money to add your own picture in.

Ensure you find a website that has a large photo gallery. Good design teams will be proud of their work and they will want to 'show it off'. If you find a website or blog that doesn't have fantastic displays of their projects, beware!

There are basically two sources of buying products that help you give a makeover to your home. The first and the most common one is your local market. A large number of vendors offer products like carpets, curtains, blinds, door handles, draperies, furniture goods and the list just goes on and on. Always try and buy branded products if you are looking for home decor goods with a better shelf life.

Next time you're visiting friends or relatives, keep your eyes peeled. Don't hesitate to ask questions since most people would be flattered to give advice or information about where they bought their furniture.

You may believe that an online degree may not have the same status as one obtained from studying on campus. This is simply not true. The universities and colleges offering online interior design degrees are well established and highly regarded. A degree from these institutions is considered to be valuable - even prestigious - and whether you obtain your degree online or on campus makes no difference at all.

Use them as decors. Decorate you office with canvas prints of the homes and business establishments you renovated. This adds 'personality' to your office space. Beautifying your office space with lovely photo canvas also creates a pleasant and inviting atmosphere for your clients.

In the past, most modern interior design was found in offices; now more and more homes are employing the styles of modern interior design. Some concepts are considered to clinical or sterile for homes, which is something you do not want and is a common mistake of someone who does not have the experience of a professional interior designer. Keep this in mind if you plan to do the work yourself.

Internet is also a very good platform for those who have just started with the task of interior designing. Many online merchants and online stores offer superior quality home furnishing products for domestic use. Whatever you look for be it blinds curtains you will find everything in these stores. Clients looking for fittings and accessories for bathrooms and kitchens have to check out the collection in these stores.

There are other interior design courses available online and a few credible schools are offering four year online programs. Be aware that online programs and distance learning courses in the field of interior design may not be recognized as a sufficient or credible form of education. Prospective students should question whether the interior design online program will provide the student with the credentials required to be licensed in most states and provinces or to be hired by most interior design firms.
