Everyone marvels when they see well-done flower arrangements. People stand in awe and wonder how the florist got all those beautiful flowers to stand straight and coordinate in such an elegant way. It's not hard to make flower arrangements that are interesting and creative.

Making flower arrangements is an age-old art. When you want to learn how to an eye-popping arrangement, just go back to the basics. It's all about color, shape and size. You can make just about any colors work together if you arrange them well. Nature has a way of making every color coordinate with the others seamlessly. The shape your arrangement takes will make a difference between a mediocre arrangement and one that wows everyone who sees it. And of course the size will determine the scale of the arrangement. Small and delicate or oversized and outlandish, every size arrangement has its place.

Go online to find floral arranging books as a starting point or take a class at your local adult education center. They can guide you in the finer points of arranging flowers. You may decide that you love the art of arranging so much that you want to make a business out of it. And why not? It's never work if you're doing something you love.

The key to the best arrangements is the container you choose. Don't think you have to go with a plain old glass vase. You have the whole world at your disposal. If it can hold water, you can use it to arrange flowers in. Think about old wooden boxes (you can put a plastic liner in them) or vintage cans and bottles. You can use urns and glassware that has odd shapes and colors. The element of surprise is what will make your floral display stand out from among all the others.

Next, get crafty with your choice of flowers. Sure, red roses are lovely, but what about a whole display of chocolate colored roses and beige roses. Different hues of the same color can be very impactful. What about mixing roses with woody stems or pine boughs for a Christmas wedding? Try to combine elements that you wouldn't see every day. Add nuts and berries to your display. Anything found in nature is fair game.

Wrap your container with oversized leaves and tie with twine. Or put colored stones in the bottom or your vase for added effect. Show your personal style and your flowers will be like no others.
